UK rockers Nothing But Thieves have just cast a spell over the nation with an absolutely magical rendition of Gang Of Youths‘ ‘What Can I Do If The Fire Goes Out?’
After dropping the cheeky hint that they’d be covering a song by a band who invited them onto the bill of one of their UK shows back when they were first starting out, the Poms had Aussies thinking they’d be tackling a tune by one of their rockin’ countrymen such as Muse or The Arctic Monkeys.
But then they hit us with the *plot twist* that they were referencing noneother than our very own Gangs, who it turns out they shared the stage with at a little pub in Angel called The Lexington back in the day, where they played in front of about 100 people including NBT frontman Conor Mason’s mum, who was apparently moderately impressed by the performance.
Sharing their admiration for Gang Of Youths, the Nothing But Thieves lads said: “We’re fans of them and we listen to them regularly” #nawwwww
They then went on to deliver an absolutely stunning rendition of Gangs’ triple j Hottest 100 of 2017 #10-charting track off Go Farther In Lightness, kicking off with just keys and Conor’s superhumanly entrancing Jeff Buckley-esque pipes, before climactically building things up into an all-out rocking 2nd chorus.
WE. HAVE. GOOSEBUMPS.
NBT also delivered an epic live performance of their own Hottest 100 of 2017-charting track ‘Amsterdam’.
