As it does each and every December, triple j has revealed which 50 acts secured the most airtime on its national airwaves this year.
Uber-talented Sydney trio Middle Kids have claimed first place for 2018, after dropping their debut album Lost Friends back in May.
In second place are DMA’S, who had a huge 2018 behind their second album For Now.
Meanwhile, Australia’s adopted English sons The Wombats claimed third place, becoming the highest ranking international act behind BROCKHAMPTON (#4) and CHVRCHES (#7).
Other homegrown favourites Ocean Alley, Courtney Barnett, Hockey Dad and The Presets round out the top 10, and you can view the full list of 50 acts down below.
72 per cent of the list consists of Australian acts, while 58 per cent is made up of male artists. As triple j points out, nearly each act in the top 50 released a full-length project in 2018.
Triple j‘s list of 50 most-played acts for 2017 was topped by Lorde, who beat out the likes of Thundamentals, The xx and Gang Of Youths to claim first place.
The 2018 edition of triple j‘s annual Hottest 100 countdown will take place on Sunday, 27th January 2019, and the early predictions are already coming in.
