Indie-pop artist, Thelma Plum is back with another stellar track ‘Better In Blak’, which will feature on her upcoming album, due for release this year.
The track is all about the frustrating experiences Plum faces as a Gamilaraay woman and musician. Much like Plum’s last two singles — ‘Clumsy Love‘ and ‘Not Angry Anymore‘ —’Better In Blak’ is an emotional, cathartic song that sees honest lyrics coupled with upbeat, danceable beats.
“I wrote ‘Better in Blak’ about my experiences with people trying to take the colour from the conversation,” explains Plum.
“My colour is an important part of who I am, and over the last couple of years I’ve had people try and tell me ‘it’s not about colour’ when obviously to me it is.”
Thelma Plum kicks off her run of festival dates today at Groovin’ The Moo in Wayville and will Splendour In The Grass later this year.
