Angie McMahon Signs International Recordings Deal With UK Company AWAL

UK recording company AWAL has put ink to paper with Angie McMahon in locking in the musician’s first international record deal; perfectly timed news as we await the release of the Melbourne musician’s long awaited debut album Salt, out before year’s end.

The international recordings deal is massive for McMahon, who has been continuing to make an impact with her music in overseas territories. Earlier this year at SXSW, she was awarded the prestigious Grulke Prize (also won by the likes of Courtney Barnett and CHVRCHES in the past) for the best developing non-US act on ground. On the homefront, McMahon’s got multiple accolades and sold out shows to her name – her star is definitely one that isn’t losing any shine any time soon.

AWAL – part of Kobalt Music – will be working with McMahon across marketing, global distribution (excluding North America), and campaigns, and with the imminent release of Salt, this deal could be a great stride forward in continuing to strengthen McMahon’s foothold on the international stage.

“I’ve wanted to keep working with them because I’ve always felt that I can make my own calls, be authentic and be innovative,” McMahon has said of this new partnership. “It is a free space to have the creativity and career that I envision without any bullshit. I’m so grateful to them for taking on my first album and holding me in their family with so much support.”
