Marilyn Manson is continuing to flaunt his weird guy acting chops, confirming his involvement with a forthcoming miniseries adaptation of Stephen King’s The Stand.
In a new interview with Revolver, the shock rocker revealed he’s recorded music for, and will also be starring in, the CBS All-Access production of the horror author’s iconic post-apocalyptic fantasy tale.
“Shooter [Jennings} and I did a cover of ‘The End’ by the Doors for a new miniseries of The Stand by Stephen King, ” Manson said, “which I’m also going to be acting in.”
Written and directed by Josh Boone, the 10-episode series about life after a disease plague wipes out 99% of humanity is also rumoured to star A-listers James Marsden, Amber Heard, Whoopi Goldberg and Greg Kinnear.
It’s not yet known which character the Antichrist Superstar will be playing, possibly the evil Randall Flagg?
His choices of dramatic roles have been nothing if not on-brand over time. Who could forget the creepy maggot-eating barber-turned-surgeon he played in TV’s Salem or the gruesome hitman he portrayed in gore-thriller Let Me Make You A Martyr, which of course followed up his famous turn as a prison-based white supremacist gang leader in Sons Of Anarchy?
Meanwhile, we’re still sitting here waiting on that new album.
