Two of pop’s most inventive names have collaborated on a track together, with Charli XCX and Christine and the Queens sharing a video for a new song entitled ‘Gone’.
As Consequence of Sound reports, the pair previously debuted the track live during Charli’s Primavera set back in May, but now we have a nice shiny official studio version along with a visual.
The song features a lot of the best qualities of the two artists, with Charli’s signature synthy bubblegum stylings and a great vocal performance from both artists. Given that they’re arguably some of the most creative people working within the broad category of “pop” at the moment, it’s pretty exciting to see them on a track together.
‘Gone’ will appear on the new Charli XCX album Charli, which is due out this September. Along with Christine and the Queens, there’s a bevy of special guests and collaborators such as Lizzo (who features on the previously released ‘Blame It On Your Love’), Sky Ferreira, Clairo and Kim Petras. It will also include ‘1999’, her hit collab with Troye Sivan.
Charli will be the first studio album from XCX since 2014’s Sucker. As for Christine and the Queens, their latest release was last year’s excellent Chris.
