‘Tis the goddamn season.
On a recent episode of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Alanis Morisette took to the 50th Street subway station below the Rockefeller Centre in New York City to busk in disguise, wearing a blonde wig, sunglasses and a hat. She was joined by Fallon himself, who adorned a beard and sunglasses to hide his identity.
The two open their set by performing the Christmas standard ‘Little Drummer Boy’, slowly gathering an audience to their makeshift stage.
“Thank you very much everybody. Happy, happy, happy holidays everybody,” Fallon says at the end of the song. “My name is Jimmy Fallon, and this is Alanis Morissette!” he continues, with each tearing off their disguises to a huge applause.
The crowd swells in size as the two then go on to perform Morissette’s 1995 Jagged Little Pill hit ‘You Oughta Know’.
It’s extremely bloody nice; Morissette belting out the lyrics with a broad smile on her face and Fallon providing backing tambourine and vocals as the crowd sings along.
It’s not the first time Jimmy has taken some musicians to busk in disguise in a New York subway. In 2017, Maroon 5 played a pair of hits underground, and last year Christina Aguilera secretly smashed out her hit ‘Fighter along with a cover of Aretha Franklin’s ‘Think’.
