The 411:
“We have a reputation for being really loud and really fast,” explains dave the band’s frontman, Noah Church.
The raucous three-piece indie-rock act from Newcastle have just released their long-awaited debut album Slob Stories. It was recorded in Chicago with Pixies great Steve Albini himself, who perfectly captured the band’s raw energy and the brain-to-page intensity of Noah’s songwriting, which is never more blisteringly evident than in the band’s latest single, ‘Where You Are’.
“’Where You Are’ was one of the first tracks written on the album,” Noah explains. “I felt like it had a different feeling and mood to our previous releases and was the catalyst for the shift in tone and themes throughout the album.
“It’s also the first dave song to only have one vocal take throughout the whole track – normally I would sing it twice through to give a chorus effect. When I suggested singing it a second time, Steve said in his deadpan way, ‘or you could not double everything’, so we stuck with the one take.”
‘Where You Are’ follows on from the release of singles ‘Ultrahard’, ‘Get Smart’ and ‘Fine!’ and comes packing a music video filmed and edited by Noah himself, which showcases him riding his bike in Newcastle.
