Ding Dong Dang that sucks. It looks like Sydney’s go-to Karaoke joint’s closure is the latest disappointment of 2020. Home to many beers sunk and many ‘Don’t Stop Believin’s belted out, Ding Dong Dang appears to be shutting down.
Reddit user /u/dbrowndownunder shared a heartbreaking scene in just two photos posted to the Sydney subreddit. They shared the iconic neon sign, alongside a photo of the sign dismantled and laying on the footpath. The photo showed the de-fit of the karaoke bar well underway.
“RIP to another Sydney landmark,” they said. “Thank you, Ding Dong Dang, for many nights drunkenly belting away into the wee hours of the morning.”

As well as that, the bar has updated their Google Listing to say it’s permanently closed.
Sydney-siders are obviously mourning over the loss.

Broadsheet reports that the Surry Hills building is actually slated for demolition. The development application says the site will see the construction of a 123-room hotel, fit with a restaurant, bar, and cafe.
RIP Ding Dong Dang.
