It’s hard to believe two years have passed since we lost the luminous talent of Mac Miller.
To mark the sad anniversary yesterday, countless of Mac’s fellow artists and fans have taken to social media to reflect on the profound impact he had on their lives, and on music in general.
Among them, Juicy J, Kehlani, Chance The Rapper & one of Mac’s closest collaborators Thundercat, who wrote: “You have two families, the family you’re born with and the family you choose. The family I chose, not a day goes by I don’t feel it. I know y’all feel it too.”
Earlier this year, Miller’s former girlfriend Ariana Grande reflected on the rapper’s life and legacy in an interview with Zane Lowe on Beats 1.
“Nothing mattered more to him than music ever,” she said. “He was a person who gave literally every single second of his thoughts and time and life to music. And I think that is so evident in what he has left us with.”
Mac Miller died at the age of 26 on September 7th, 2018 after suffering an accidental overdose, just over a month after the release of his fifth album, Swimming.
His first posthumous LP Circles arrived earlier this year to critical and commercial acclaim.
