Sydney Kamilaroi rapper The Kid LAROI is absolutely ruling the world right now, and if you need proof, just take a look at his Spotify specs.
At just 17-year-old, the rising hip-hop sensation has just shot past K-Dot himself Kendrick Lamar for number of monthly listeners, kicking off 2021 with more than 25.5 million of them.
That eclipses the ‘HUMBLE.’ rapper’s monthly listener tally by more than a million, just FYI.
It comes after a breakout year for the teen prodigy, who spent 2020 dropping his debut album F*CK LOVE plus a collab with the late JuiceWRLD ‘Reminds Me Of You’, as well as featuring on tracks by Bankrol Hayden, Tokyo’s Revenge and Sydney collective OneFour.
Of course, an artists’ monthly listener count ebbs and flows according to how often they release music and it’s been a while since we’ve heard any new stuff from Kendrick. Still, eclipsing the popularity of one of the biggest rappers on earth is no mean feat.
The Kid’s even got Justin Bieber and Post Malone following him on Twitter now, to boot.
