Alt-pop artist Clairo has dug deep and shared a little bit about her mental health journey this past year in a new track titled Just For You.
Shared via a video post to Instagram, the clip is a screenshot of her Voice Memos app where she recorded the song.
The stripped-back track features just Clairo and her guitar, with a brief interruption from her pup Joanie. Birds are singing in the background of the clip, making the song feel all the more vulnerable.
“Not sure about you, but my mental health has taken a major dip since quarantine started – at times I feel like I’ve never felt worse,” she wrote in the caption of the post.
“New medication, hotlines, and one scheduled appointment with a psychiatrist later and I’m feeling more like myself again.”
“I wrote this last night and I feel there’s no real reason I should hold onto it. Hope you enjoy the song and Joanie’s squeaks.”
At the end of 2020, Clairo announced her new band, Shelly – a collaborative effort between her and friends Claud, Josh Mehling and Noah Frances Getzug. The band have already shared their first two singles, Natural and Steeeam.
