Your triple j Hottest 100 #2, Spacey Jane have taken on Like A Version this week. The Perth rockers offered up a cover of The Beatles’ ‘Here Comes The Sun’.
The song isn’t changed dramatically. Spacey Jane keep all that structure in the song while playing around with different speeds throughout the track, adding interesting touches on their guitars.
In their Behind the Like A Version interview, the band shares the inspiration they draw from The Beatles. “We chose this song because, at its core, it’s just a really beautiful song,” says the band’s frontman Caleb Harper.
“It doesn’t take much dressing up to make it work.”
Kieran Lama reveals that he was late to the Beatles train.
“My Mum listens to Guy Sebastian mostly, so I had to figure out they were a great band through my friends,” he said.
For the original song component of the segment, Spacey Jane gave us their Hottest 100 contender ‘Booster Seat’. It scored a very impressive #2, just beaten by Glass Animals and their song ‘Heat Waves’.
The band had a massive 2020. Aside from their #2 entry in the countdown they nabbed a further three entries with ‘Skin’ at #15, ‘Straightfaced’ at #28, and ‘Weightless’ at #81.
They topped the triple j Album Poll too, with their debut album Sunlight.
