Beyond the Valley has vowed to return in 2021. However, the usual four-day camping extravaganza has been scrapped. In its place, the organisers are planning a special two-day event at an inner-city location.
Beyond the Valley is one of Australia’s most loved New Year’s festivals, attracting a loyal flock of attendees and bringing in new faces each year courtesy of its excellent artist programming. BTV typically takes place at the sprawling Gippsland Parklands in Lardner, Victoria over the final four days of the calendar year.
Last year’s BTV was cancelled on account of the COVID-19 pandemic. Unfortunately, the pandemic is still very much in motion and the organisers have abandoned plans for a return to the regular four-day camping event. But they’re not about to give up so easily and have been in talks with government personnel to get approval for a special non-camping BTV event across 30th and 31st December.
“We’ve sadly made the decision that Beyond The Valley will not be operating as a 4 day camping event this year,” the BTV team said in a statement. “The prospect of facing a last minute cancellation is too crushing, potentially causing a blow we would not be able to come back from and shattering all of your New Year’s plans.”
Concrete details are yet to be announced, but the revised festival is all but locked in. “The lineup is booked, the venue is confirmed, we are just waiting to see how the current situation unfolds and we’ll be back with more news ASAP,” said the BTV team.
To give you an idea of the calibre acts the festival tends to attract, BTV 2019 featured Rüfüs Du Sol, Hayden James, Mallrat, The Veronicas, Methyl Ethel and Mec Mac as well as internationals Tyler, the Creator, Floating Points and Skepta. Stay tuned for more news of BTV 2021.
