Billie Eilish’s second studio album, Happier Than Ever, came out in late July. Ahead of the album’s release, Eilish announced that a concert film, entitled Happier Than Ever: A Love Letter to Los Angeles, was also on the way.
The film will be streaming exclusively on Disney+ from Friday, 3rd September and the streaming giant has just shared the official trailer.
Happier Than Ever: A Love Letter to Los Angeles was filmed at the Hollywood Bowl and directed by Robert Rodriguez and animator Patrick Osborne. In the trailer, Eilish says it’s “a concert film, but it’s also a story at the same time.”
The film will feature the entire Happier Than Ever album, played front to back. Eilish is joined onstage by her brother and collaborator, Finneas, as well as conductor Gustavo Dudamel and the Los Angeles Philharmonic. “This is a dream come true,” she says.
In an interview with Vevo ahead of the album’s release, Eilish spoke about her intentions for Happier Than Ever. “I wanted to make a very timeless record that wasn’t just timeless in terms of what other people thought, but really just timeless for myself,” she said.
Despite the global circumstances, the album title reflects where Eilish is at with selfhood and her artistic convictions. “This album was made in a very perfect time for me creatively,” she said. “It was just so natural and easy and fun and calm.”
