Green Day have announced they’ve got a new live album on the way, which will see the band digging into four of their sessions from London’s legendary Maida Vale Studios.
Dubbed The BBC Sessions, the live album will feature 16 rare takes recorded for the British broadcasting giant between 1994 and 2001.
The album will feature works from 1994 when the band were in the midst of recording Dookie, with tracks ‘She’, ‘When I Come Around’, ‘Basket Case’ and ‘2000 Light Years Away’.
Two years later in 1996, the band returned to deliver performances of ‘Geek Stink Breath’, ‘Brain Stew/Jaded’, ‘Walking Contradiction’ and ‘Stuck With Me’.
In 1998, they played ‘Hitchin’ A Ride’, ‘Nice Guys Finish Last’, ‘Prosthetic Head’ and ‘Redundant’.
And finally, the live album finishes up in 2001, where the band performed ‘Castaway’, ‘Church On Sunday’, ‘Minority’ and ‘Waiting’.
The album is due to be released on Friday, 10th December, and will be available digitally, on CD and limited-edition double LP vinyl, which will feature liner notes from Steve Lamacq, who was present at all of the sessions.
The first cut from the album has been shared. Listen to ‘2000 Light Years Away’ below.
