It’s official: Sunk Loto are back. The Gold Coast nu-metal act have taken to social media to confirm that they’re officially reuniting after a 15-year hiatus.
In a short but ever so sweet message to fans who have been calling for a return since 2007, Sunk Loto confirmed what the heavy corner of the Aussie internet (and some local Gold Coast sleuths) had suspected for a while – they’re back together and they’ll be doing… something, soon.
The message (featured above) teases some “exciting news” to come. It contains by a fresh photo of the band’s lineup, featuring lead guitarist Luke McDonald, bassist Sean Van Gennip, vocalist Jason Brown, and drummer Dane Brown.
With the early 00s nu-metal and industrial metal vibes currently infiltrating the heavy music spectrum both at home (Thornhill, Northlane, RedHook etc) and overseas (Code Orange, loathe, Cane Hill etc), the return of one of Australia’s most celebrated acts of the genre could not be better timed. As for whether we’ll finally get a follow up to 2003’s criminally underrated, Between Birth and Death, that remains to be seen.
But the prospect of hearing those songs, as well as Sunk Loto’s trademark hits, ‘Vinegar Stroke’ and ‘Sunken Eyes’, live is tantalising.
