Ozzy Osbourne and his wife Sharon have publicly unleashed on Kanye West, after the rapper ignored a clear directive forbidding him from sampling a live version of Black Sabbath’s ‘Iron Man’ on his forthcoming collaborative album with Ty Dolla $ign, Vultures, Volume 1.
“Kanye West asked permission to sample a section of a 1983 live performance of ‘Iron Man’ from the US Festival without vocals & was refused permission because he is an antisemite and has caused untold heartache to many,” Ozzy posted on socials, addressing the controversy. “He went ahead and used the sample anyway at his album listening party last night. I want no association with this man!”
“I want no association with this man!”
Never one to hold back on speaking her mind, Ozzy’s wife and former manager, Sharon Osbourne, went in even harder on Ye when she spoke about the spat on TMZ.
“Kanye fucked with the wrong Jew this time,” Shaz told the gossip rag, revealing that the couple has already sent West’s team a cease-and-desist, while threatening to take even more drastic legal action if Ye doesn’t ditch the sample.
For context, Sharon’s late dad, music manager Don Arden, was Jewish, and the queen of metal has also previously noted that she identifies as being Jewish herself.
In a separate interview with Billboard, Shaz added: “We get so many requests for these songs, and when we saw that request, we just said no way. The simple thing is, we don’t want to be associated with a hater. To spread hate the way he does, it shouldn’t be allowed. All the excuses – he’s bipolar or whatever – doesn’t change that. It’s like, fuck you, basically.”
Sadly, Ye has a dark and chequered history of making antisemitic remarks, including tweeting the line: “I’m a bit sleepy tonight but when I wake up I’m going death con 3 On JEWISH PEOPLE,” back in 2022. Not to mention his wildly controversial interview with disgraced conspiracy theorist Alex Jones that same year, where he openly praised Adolf Hitler and defended the Nazi regime.
The incident sparked a movement to stop the rapper from being allowed back into Australia on the basis of his antisemitism.
On a happier note, Ozzy Osbourne recently had a completely different reaction to another rapper – T-Pain – when he covered Sabbath’s ‘War Pigs’, dubbing it the best cover of the song he’s ever heard.
