Organisers of the inaugural Pandemonium festival have announced two sideshows for fans in Newcastle, headlined by Blondie and Alice Cooper respectively. Both shows will take place at the Newcastle Entertainment Centre, with Blondie’s show taking place on Monday April 22nd and Alice Cooper’s the following night on Tuesday April 23rd.
Joining Blondie on the line-up will be Wolfmother and Cosmic Psychos. Cooper’s show, meanwhile, will see support come from his former touring partners Deep Purple and Perth band Gyroscope. All six artists will then join the Pandemonium bill as it takes to Cathy Freeman Park in Sydney on Thursday April 25th and Doug Jennings Park on the Gold Coast on Saturday April 27th. A final festival date is set for the Sandstone Point Hotel on Bribie Island in Queensland, although Blondie will not be appearing at that leg of the run.
Blondie – ‘Call Me’
Blondie’s show will mark the first time the Debbie Harry-fronted band have played in Newcastle since 1977, where they played the city’s Civic Theatre on their debut Australian tour. In 2017, the band played in the nearby Hunter Valley region on their co-headlining tour with Cyndi Lauper, performing at the Bimbadgen Estate Winery in Polkobin.
Cooper and Deep Purple, meanwhile, are playing Newcastle for the first time since 2017 and 2010 respectively. The former visited the city on his Spend the Night with Alice Cooper tour, with former KISS guitarist Ace Frehley in support, while the latter were on their Rapture of the Deep world tour.
Both of the Newcastle shows are all-ages events. A pre-sale for each show will begin from tomorrow (February 23rd) at 9am AEDT, with a general sale following on Monday February 26th at noon AEDT. Ticketing information and the full Pandemonium itinerary can be found below.
