Melbourne heavy hitters Windwaker have just loosed their brand new EP Enter The Wall upon our ears, just in time to storm the stage at all three East Coast legs of Knotfest Australia next week.
The four-track disc features previously released singles ‘Fractured State Of Mind’ and ‘SIRENS’, with a fresh single grabbing the spotlight today in the form of titular track ‘The Wall’, a glitchy, manic two-minute belter fuelled by a tasty southern hip-hop groove (listen below).
Windwaker – ‘The Wall’
The band describe the song as being a “reference to staring absently into a void”.
“It’s the moment when reality crumbles away around you, leaving you with nothing but your own thoughts,” the Windies explain in a press statement. “Visually, it paints the picture of a person sitting in a dimly lit room at night as a black hole mercilessly sucks away the environment around them piece by piece. The main hook repeats twice in the same way a thought circulates in your mind. It always leads back to the same conclusion, setting off that thought again, and again, and again…”
Windwaker will be performing songs off their new EP live next week when Knotfest hits Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane, gracing a lineup that also features Pantera, Disturbed, Lamb of God, Speed and more.
Meanwhile, Slipknot have confirmed they will be returning down under to play the festival themselves in 2025, in honour of their 25th anniversary as a band.
