According to a story by Vanity Fair Diplo is being sued for allegedly disseminating revenge porn. A New York woman, identified in the lawsuit as Jane Doe, filed the lawsuit in federal court in California on June 27.
Doe claims she began direct messaging with Diplo on Snapchat in April 2016, when she was 21 and he was 37. Critical allegations of the relationship began formally in June 2016, and ended in October 2023; however, they completely exchanged nude photos and videos, after which she explicitly told him to never record anything or share it without her permission.
Diplo Summoned For Distributing Revenge Porn
In November 2023, a woman contacted Doe and stated that she had obtained both pictures and videos of her and Diplo engaging in sex. Doe says the woman informed her that this information was given to Diplo in October 2018. That individual reported to the New York Police Department, which issued an arrest warrant against Diplo. The NYPD ultimately confirmed an investigation ongoing against Diplo for unlawful dissemination.
Doe believes Diplo is the one circulating her intimate images and videos from 2018 to date, which has caused her very serious emotional damage and loss of personal space. Her attorney, Micha Star Liberty, said, “The filing of this lawsuit is an important step towards justice, and it is going to further underscore the importance of protecting the rights of those who have been preyed upon.” A second attorney, Helene M. Weiss, added, “Our client deserves justice, and she’s hopeful this litigation may serve as a catalyst to finally put an end to the defendant’s continued victimization of women.”.
Diplo’s lawyer, Bryan J. Freedman, denied the allegations: “Time and time again, Wes has been the victim of a conspiracy by a group of untrustworthy individuals and their unscrupulous lawyers: This suit seems to be just more of the same.”.
A woman, Shelly Auguste, had initially accused Diplo of trading nude photos without consent. She has been embroiled in a legal tussle with him since 2020 and is booked for a civil trial in January 2025. On his part, Diplo is also countersuing Auguste for stalking and distribution of private material.
