Jorja Smith Announces 2024 Australian Tour

Jorja Smith has announced her full-scale return to Australia, playing a trio of headlining shows in October 2024. The English singer-songwriter had previously been announced on the line-up for this year‘s Promiseland line-up, joining the likes of Busta RhymesMiguel and Metro Boomin on the Gold Coast over the October long weekend. Her full, updated tour schedule can be found below.

Smith’s Sydney show, set to take place at the ICC Sydney Theatre, is being hosted in conjunction with this year’s SXSW Sydney conference. Badgeholders will have access to complimentary tickets to the show, with expressions of interest to be registered here.

Smith’s previous – and, to date, only other – visit to Australia took place in early 2019, where she was part of that year’s Laneway Festival alongside the likes of Gang Of Youths, Courtney Barnett, Mitski, Rex Orange County and Clairo. This tour was ultimately cut short, however, to accommodate Smith attending the Grammys due to being nominated in the category of Best New Artist – an award that was ultimately won that night by Dua Lipa.

Her attending the ceremony meant that Smith did not appear at Laneway in Adelaide, Melbourne or Fremantle. She did, however, appear at both the Brisbane and Sydney legs – as well as performing her own headlining show in Melbourne at the Forum Theatre.

Smith’s 2024 Australian tour was meant to include an appearance at the first-ever Promise Village, the sister festival to Promiseland in Perth’s Langley Park. It was announced yesterday (July 17th), however, that the festival would no longer be going ahead. PerthNow broke the story, saying that organisers cited low ticket sales and a lack of government support as the reason for its cancellation.

Since she was last in Australia, Smith has released her second studio album Falling Or Flying. Released in September 2023, the album was supported by the platinum-certified single ‘Little Things’, as well as ‘Try Me’ and ‘Go Go Go’. Following its release, Smith also shared a cover of East 17’s 1994 track ‘Stay Another Day’.
