Boorloo/Perth-based artist CHEZ has pivoted to a sparkling new alt-pop sound on her latest single ‘so good’, a vibrant anthem with a vulnerable message.
“‘so good’ touches on a relationship that was falling apart, but where I was trying my best to keep it together and almost live in denial,” CHEZ explains.
CHEZ – ‘so good’
“After committing so much time to someone and watching our relationship slowly dwindle into existing together as strangers, there was an internal shame I felt and I didn’t want anyone to know how shit it really was out of being seen as a failure or the problem,” she continues.
“It’s something I know a lot of people feel and experience and I think it was an important message to share.”
After previously sharing the stage with the likes of Against The Current (USA), PVRIS (USA), Magnolia Park (USA and Taylor Acorn (USA) and releasing a string of highly acclaimed pop-punk-leaning singles, ‘so good’ marks a fresh sonic rebrand for the rising artist.
“It’s very exciting as this sound that is coming has felt the most authentic and real to me,” CHEZ explains. “For the longest time, I have been forcing my sound to the likes of those around me, taking outside opinions far too literally and just neglecting what feels like my truest form, which is writing, creating and making pop music with a slight alternative edge!”
