Green Day have announced their first Australian shows in almost a decade, playing their first-ever run of stadium headliners in March 2025 after teasing an announcement earlier this year. The three shows will also see the band joined by AFI, themselves returning to Australia after a seven-and-a-half year absence. The tour dates, pre-sale details and ticketing information can be accessed below.
The Saviors tour – so named after the band’s 14th studio album, released this past January – will see the band celebrating anniversary milestones for two of their most popular studio albums: 1994’s Dookie, celebrating its 30th anniversary, and 2004’s American Idiot celebrating its 20th. The band will play both records in their entirety as part of the show, as well as selections from their remaining catalogue.
Green Day – ‘When I Come Around’
The Oakland pop-punk veterans were meant to tour Australia in 2020 as part of the ill-fated Hella Mega stadium tour – a triple headliner that also featured Weezer and Fall Out Boy on the bill, with The Beths as the opening act. The tour was ultimately cancelled, however, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Both Weezer and Fall Out Boy returned to Australia in late 2023 – the former as a support act for KISS‘ final Australian show, and the latter as the headliner for that year’s Good Things.
As such, Green Day have not toured Australia since an arena tour in May 2017 supporting their then-most recent studio album, Revolution Radio. Aside from Saviors, the band also released the divisive Father Of All Motherfuckers album in 2020 – being widely mocked for a billboard promoting the album that boasted it had “no Swedish songwriters” and was “100% pure uncut rock”.
AFI, meanwhile, were last in Australia in September 2017 on a headlining tour supported by UK emo-rock band Basement. Since they were last in Australia, the band have released one new studio album, 2021’s Bodies, and have played shows to commemorate the 20th anniversary of their acclaimed 2003 album Sing The Sorrow.
