UPDATE: Sum 41 Cancel Good Things Appearance & Headlines Dates Due To Illness
Sum 41 have had an unfortunate non-starter to their final Australian tour, being forced to cancel the first night at Brisbane’s Fortitude Music Hall last night (December 4th). The news broke yesterday afternoon that the show would not be going ahead on account of the band’s frontman Deryck Whibley coming down with pneumonia.
A statement from the band shared on the venue’s social media channels noted that Whibley is “receiving the best possible care” following the diagnosis. “We are working with with the promoter to make sure all ticket buyers… are refunded, and will let you know more soon,” they wrote. In lieu of the show not going ahead, Sum 41’s support act Grandson instead played a free show at the Fortitude’s sister venue The Outpost, with a DJ set from Sum 41 drummer Frank Zummo.
Sum 41 – ‘In Too Deep’
Sum 41’s run as the second-from-the-top headliner of Good Things festival, under Korn, is slated to begin tomorrow (December 6th) in Melbourne at Flemington Racecourse. It then proceeds to Sydney’s Centennial Park on Saturday and Brisbane’s RNA Showgrounds on Sunday. The band are then slated to play their own headlining shows at Adelaide’s AEC Arena on Tuesday December 10th, Melbourne’s Margaret Court Arena on Thursday, December 12th and Sydney’s Hordern Pavilion on Saturday, December 14th. Music Feeds will have more information on the status of these shows as it comes.
