In heartbreaking news, Sum 41 have been forced to cancel their final ever Australian tour, including Good Things Festival dates, after frontman Deryck Whibley was hospitalised with pneumonia in Brisbane, shortly after arriving in Australia.
Last night’s Brisbane show was the first domino to fall, with fans holding out hope that Whibley might bounce back in time for Good Things this weekend. But unfortunately, doctor’s have advised the singer not to risk it.

“Under the guidance and direction of doctors in Australia, it has become clear Sum 41’s Deryck Whibley is too unwell to perform,” festival promoters announced in a press statement.
“Sum 41 are gutted they can’t perform, and we fully understand and appreciate fans’ disappointment. Deryck’s health and wellbeing is the focus and priority though, and we hope you will join us in sending him well wishes for his recovery.”
They continued: “The good news is our headliner Korn is ready and raring to go, the sites are built, venues look amazing and our timetable has been shuffled to ensure you have the best day possible. You’ll still be able to catch more than 28 Bands including Violent Femmes, Electric Callboy, Billy Corgan, Mastodon, Kerry King, The Gaslight Anthem, Jet, The Living End, L7 and many more across the weekend. Get well soon, Deryck, and see the rest of you at the Festival!”
The dates were meant to mark Sum 41’s final Australian live dates before they hang up their guitars for good after 27+ years as a band.
No word yet if the band plans to reschedule their final lap of Australia, but we’ll bring you more news as it develops.
