Ology has reported that American band Melvins are looking to set a Guinness World Record by playing in all 50 states (including Washington DC) in the shortest amount of time. The announcement of the record attempt coincides with the release of Melvins’ new record Freak Puke, which is out today.
If successful, Melvins will officially hold the world record for the ‘Fastest Tour of the United States’. Melvins’ frontman, King Buzzo, said the band felt the need to do something outlandish.
“We figured it was time for us to do something really crazy… Jeez! I wonder if we can do it?”, Buzzo said.
Last month Music Feeds reported on The Flaming Lips‘ attempt to break Jay-Z‘s current Guinness World Record of the most live shows played in 24 hours over multiple states.
