It’s been 19 years since the glory days of Regurgitator and the band has chosen to celebrate the landmark, not by rebranding themselves as new like so many of these other 90’s bands are trying to do, but instead they’re bringing with them the good old days.
The Fat Cop hit makers, who are also known for locking themselves in a bubble to write, produce and finish an album, will be playing Tu Plang and Unit back to back. Following a series of successful performances and critical acclaim for the band between 2011 and this very moment, the lads decided that there was no better time than now to pack up the van and hit the tarmac for nostalgia’s sake.
Initially only planning on touring off the memory of Unit, the band has included Tu Plang. The band will be re-gigging and retroteching the albums, giving them a much-needed breath of fresh air. Joining them on the tour will be Indonesian two-piece SENYAWA – having performed at Melbourne Jazz festival, MoNA FoMA and Adelaide Festivals, they will be bringing down with them their homemade bamboo instrument and perform “their traditional Javanese heritage filtered through a framework of contemporary experimental music practices”.
Tickets go on sale July 4 and you can just tell it’s going to be a great time.
