Approximately 9 hours ago Girls‘ vocalist and founder Christopher Owens took to his Twitter account to publicly announce his departure from the Californian two-piece, and thus most likely ending the band altogether. As revealed in the tweets embedded below, Owen’s decision to depart from Girls was not an easy choice, and surely comes as a shock to fans considering the duo only just released their second LP Father, Son, Holy Ghost late last year and played at his year’s Laneway Festival in Sydney.
Owens goes on to assure his fans, however, that he will continue to write and record music in the future, though details of whether this will be in another band or as a solo artist have not been revealed.
Owens’ now ex-bandmate Chet ‘J.R.’ White has yet to make a public statement about Owens’ departure or if she plans to continue creating music under the moniker of Girls
