Punk rock legends The Exploited have never had a reputation for playing nice. The Scottish outfit recently performed at D-Tox Rockfest, though not before taking the opportunity to slag a few names while they had the chance.
In an interview conducted prior to the set, frontman Wattie Buchan, who actually is as tough as he looks, put his crosshairs on other British bands: Henry Rollins, former Dead Kennedys vocalist Jello Biafra, and of course Green Day. It’s a tad hard to understand what Wattie is saying given his think Scottish twang though it’s something to the effect of “…The Addicts, fuck all the other shit British bands are shit. Green Day, Henry Rollins, Jello Biafra – Faggot. Henry Rollins is a fucking wanker, they’re all Like two faced cu*ts”.
Green Day, Rollins and Biafra all have fairly large public profiles and are therefore all easy targets. Green Day is the easiest given the current hype around their yet-to-be released new material that has come in the form of three albums. The most recent single of these was a somewhat underwhelming ‘Oh Love‘, which is still worth checking out.
The Exploited were able to back up their wild claims with an even more wild performance of Let’s Start a War. The last release from the iconic band was in 2003 with Fuck the System; they toured Australia with raging success very recently.
