It’s a strange time we live in when the voice of reason comes from behind an elaborately demonic latex mask. But, in character or not, Gwar frontman Oderus Urungus speaks some pure wisdom. The out-of-this-world vocalist has previously spoken out against Hellyeah and again at the American Media, though now he’s said what many of us were thinking about Megadeth frontman Dave Mustaine.
Mustaine reached headlines around the world after a rant during the band’s live performance in Singapore recently where he flat out blamed US President Barrack Obama for the recent shooting epidemic in the States, labelling it as a conspiracy for Obama to gain support for his anti-gun campaign.
Though what will probably go down as one of the most outlandish remarks of the year has been challenged by Urungus through his ever-active Twitter account. Oderus made an easy target out of Mustaine, insisting that he needn’t say a thing for the Megadeth rockstar to look foolish. Oderus further labelled the rant as ignorant and insensitive, “I just can’t think of anything more ignorant or insensitive right off the top of my head…”
For those who have been paying attention, this would actually be round II between the two bands who butted heads earlier in the year. Once again, Oderus unleashed on Mustaine, going on record during a radio interview as saying: “Shut the fuck up, Dave Mustaine. Shut the fuck up, you God, cock-sucking faggot”.
Mustaine, however, is yet to offer a rebuttal on the topic, though in previous interviews, according to Blabbermouth, he has made his less-than-admirable feelings towards Obama clear, saying on Canadian TV that “I know he was born somewhere else than America…I’m not calling a question to it, I just, you know, it’s a point. How come he was invisible until he became whatever he was in Illinois?”
When politics and music mix, it always gets messy. Luckily there are those like Oderus Urungus to keep those wayward back-seat policial analysts in check.
