This is our third and final Harvest sideshow announcement for this morning…and if you’re a fan of The War on Drugs, it’s your lucky day!
The band have announced their own shows in Melbourne and Sydney, on top of their appearances at the Harvest Festival across the East Coast in November.
Billed as “one of the most exciting rock’n’roll bands to emerge in recent years,” the Philadelphia’ psychedelic rockers are hitting up Australia for the first time this November.
Following several lineup changes, including the departure of founding member Kurt Vile after their 2008 debut Wagonwheel Blues, the four-piece released their second album, Slave Ambient, in 2011. It was recorded over several years at frontman Adam Granduciel’s studio, and is full of songs that feel both refreshingly new, yet instantly identifiable.
With tracks such as their single Baby Missiles evoking the likes of Bruce Springsteen and Bob Dylan, The War on Drugs craft nostalgic anthems with their signature brand of rock, folk, blues, and everything in between.
In their interview with Music Feeds last month, Adam Granduciel said that the band’s “club shows” sometimes stretch out to two hours worth of on-stage antics, so those of you who head along are certainly in for a treat.
