Boy & Bear issued two bits of news today – one great, the other not so great. The band’s bass player Jake Tarasenko (far left) has quit the group, with the official line being that he’s leaving to “pursue other interests”.
The band posted a statement on their Facebook wall saying that they “will miss Jake and wish him all the best for the future.”
The better bit of news is that the band are hard at work writing and recording the follow-up to last year’s ARIA magnet disc – their debut record Moonfire. The album cleaned up at the ARIA’s – scoring the band four gongs, including Album of the Year, Best Group, Breakthrough Artist, and Best Adult Alternative Release.
Here’s the official statement from the band:
Just wanted to let you all know that our good friend & bass player Jake Tarasenko has decided to leave the band to pursue other interests.
We will miss Jake and wish him all the best for the future. We are currently writing our next album and can’t wait to get back out there in 2013 to play you all some new tunes.
Much love,
Boy & Bear
Boy & Bear have gigs locked in for the Falls and Sountbound festivals over New Year – so it will be interesting to see who joins them to fill Tarasenko’s spot on stage.
