Robert Plant has confirmed that he has recorded new music for Primal Scream’s upcoming album due out next year. As reported by NME, the celebrated Led Zeppelin frontman told MOJO that he is eager to explore singing opportunities with various artists and bands.
“Everything we did back in those days and everything I have done since has been based on a fresh approach. What’s going on? What can I be as a singer that doesn’t play much. That’s how I see everything: what can I be a part of that’s exciting? And if anybody’s got any ideas then I’m always up for it,” Plant told MOJO, according to NME.
“I sang a bit on the Primals stuff because I think their references on looking back on the glorious past and the way they bring them into the contemporary world are fantastic,” Plant added.
MOJO also spoke with Primal Scream lead singer Bobby Gillespie about the progress of the new LP, confirming that David Holmes is onboard as producer and that The Pop Group’s Mark Stewart is also set to make a special album appearance.
As noted by NME, this is not the first time Plant and Primal Scream have worked together. Plant featured on 2002’s Evil Heat playing harmonica on the song The Lord Is My Shotgun.
Robert Plant will be appearing on next years Bluesfest 2013 lineup, while Primal Scream will be on this years Meredith Music Festival lineup.
