Big Day Out 2013 has now officially kicked off, and it couldn’t be in a finer form – a sold-out crowd all gathering under the glorious Sydney sun at the showgrounds. It’s sure to be an absolutely crazy day, so it’s time to get the highlighters out and begin planning.

Allow plenty of time to travel to the Big Day Out. Avoid travelling at peak times and buy a return ticket to avoid the queues on your way home.

Plan to meet your friends away from the busy train station. This helps to reduce congestion and makes it easier to find your friends in a less crowded area.
Think before you drink
It is an offence to drink alcohol on public transport, including train stations and ferry wharves. Intoxicated people are not permitted to travel on CityRail, Sydney Buses or Sydney Ferries services.
Train Information
The closest CityRail station to the Sydney Showground is Olympic Park Station and additional services are operating for this year’s Big Day Out including:
Central Station to Olympic Park: every 6 – 10 minutes between 10am and 2.30pm.
Olympic Park to Central Station: every 6 to 10 minutes from 8pm to 1am with 4 services between 1am and 2pm.
Lidcombe to Olympic Park shuttle: every 10 minutes from 6.10am to 1am with 3 services between 1am and 2am.

Bankstown Line: buses replace trains between Liverpool and Villawood.
Inner West Line: buses replace trains between Liverpool and Villawood.
South Line: buses replace trains between Glenfield and Fairfield.
Cumberland line: trains do not operate. Buses replace trains between Glenfield and Parramatta.

Bus Information
Sydney Buses is operating to a regular weekday timetable. Additional services are running on some routes and will be confirmed closer to the event date.
Route 525 operates between Parramatta and Burwood via Sydney Olympic Park.
Route 526 operates from the Sydney Olympic Park Ferry Wharf to the stadium.
Additional services are running on some Northern beaches routes to get patrons to and from the event.
Route L90 runs from the Newport shops stop to Lee Street, Central Station at 9.55am, 10.10am and 10.25am with a return service departing Lee Street to Palm Beach at 12.45am after the festival.
Route 178 departs Wynyard for Dee Why at 11.55pm and 12.55am.
Route 246 departs Wynyard for Spit Junction at 11.40pm, 12.16am, 12.30am and 1:05am.

Ferry Information
Sydney Ferries is operating to a regular weekday timetable.
Please note, due to the low tides in the upper Parramatta River, some ferry services will be replaced by buses between Parramatta and Rydalmere in the late afternoon and evening. Please visit service changes for information about the amendments.

Sydney Olympic Park Authority (SOPA) are closing some roads during this event, but access to businesses and residences will be maintained. Visit the Sydney Olympic Park website for more details on the road closures.

Parking Information
During major events, consider the public transport options as parking is limited and subject to availability in the car parks at the venue.

CityRail
Central, Strathfield, Burwood, Granville, Olympic Park, Blacktown and Parramatta stations are all wheelchair accessible.
Sydney Buses
Nearly all of Sydney Buses’ services are wheelchair accessible.
Features of wheelchair accessible buses include wider doors and aisles, and space for two mobility aids such as wheelchairs, some ride-on scooters and prams or strollers.
Sydney Ferries
The entire Sydney Ferries fleet is wheelchair accessible via wheelchair accessible ferry wharves (pending tidal and safety conditions). Please refer to the network map and mobility aid information for further details.
Liverpool Parramatta T-way Buses
All T-way bus services are low floor wheelchair accessible.
