The ARIA nominated darlings of Sydney’s 90’s rock scene Nitocris have finally bowed to public demand by confirming here and now they will reunite for a one off show – back to where it all began at Sydney’s Annandale Hotel.
The Nitocris story begins pre email, MySpace, mobile phones and iPods… imagine that? Formed in 1992 by Year 9 school friends Jess (guitar), Kira (guitar), Sara (bass) and Andi (drums) they later recruited Morgana (vocals) via a simple classified ad in The Drum Media. At the tender age of 15 or so Nitocris started playing pub gigs – accompanied by their Mums.
Fast forward ten years, approximately 1500 shows, two albums, five ep’s, a run of sold out national tours, the coveted main stage spot on the national Big Day Out tour and a whole host of gigs supporting Deep Purple, The Cult, Rancid, Midnight Oil, Pennywise and The Screaming Jets to name a few, Nitocris announced their possibly permanent break to pursue their own personal projects.
Only the last Nitocris show wasn’t as anyone had imagined. Gracing the stage one rainy afternoon at the Newtown festival the sky unleashed it’s power and the show was rained out. Forums went nuts with fans demanding the last show be done over again but the girls kept true to their word. Having been part of the rock n roll juggernaut for so long and achieving such great successes they all agreed it was time for a break.
Now Morgana, Jess, Kira, Sara & Andi are ready and raring to go for this one off show as a special thank you to the fans that have stayed loyal for so very long. Supported by old mates Midget and new pals The Black Stars.
