French synth rock stalwarts M83 have just unveiled the title track to the score of the upcoming sci-fi action flick, Oblivion, featuring vocals by Norwegian singer songwriter, Susanne Sundfør.
Following the trend set by Daft Punk & Trent Reznor, Anthony Gonzalez of M83 has carried on from the success of the band’s sixth LP, Hurry Up, We’re Dreaming, and composed the soundtrack for director Joseph Kosinski’s (Tron: Legacy) upcoming film starring Hollywood juggernaut Tom Cruise as a military veteran assigned to extract Earth’s remaining resources.
With that eerie premise in mind, the first taste of Gonzalez’s charged cinematic score builds to the kind of epic crescendo we can only hope means endless action sequences in the film. Sundfør, who supported the band’s live show in London in 2012, is a strong addition, providing subtle, ethereal vocals to the track.
The full soundtrack will be release on 9th April by Back Lot Records while the film is due for release in Australia on 11th April.
