There’s yet another reason to visit the subtropical utopia that is Byron Bay with the announcement of Boomerang Festival, a three-day long event hailed as the first of its kinds – an Indigenous festival for all Australians. Brought to you from the creative minds behind Bluesfest, we’ve now got a taste of the lineup, including the musicians, public speakers, comedians, dancers and actors populating the festival.
Attendees will be treated to a performance by headliner Gurrumul who will be joined on stage by the The Queensland Virtuosi Symphony Orchestra. Also included in the announce are Archie Roach, Lou Bennett, Emma Donovan and Deline Briscoe as well as Shellie Morris, The Medics and Thelma Plum.
Boomerang Festival is an independent indigenous cultural festival that has been put together by a partnership between Bluesfest Director Peter Noble and Boomerang Festival Director and Curator Rhoda Roberts. The festival will be held on the October Long Weekend Friday, 4th October to Sunday, 6th October 2013 at the Bluesfest site, Tyagarah Tea Tree Farm just outside Byron Bay.
