A band and tour that require little introduction, we are extremely psyched to welcome the return of Animal Collective to Australia in December 2009.
After a decade of music-making both in band and solo form, the Collective’s cult truly exploded with the release of their ninth studio album, Merriweather Post Pavilion. Not even a year old, and the record has already come to be considered a classic of our time.
Based in various spots around the globe, members Avey Tare, Panda Bear and Geologist convened in Oxford, Mississippi to create an extremely melodic blend of folk, noise, psychedelia and pop music, resulting in an exhilarating album with a sound that is enormously human.
A band like Animal Collective just doesn’t come along very often, especially to a small town half way between Geelong and Ballarat, so in addition to the sure-to-be-astonishing set at the Meredith Music Festival, we are pleased to announce headline dates around the country. All show details below.
Joining Animal Collective on their national tour will be special guest, New Zealander Bachelorette a.k.a. Annabel Alpers, who tours in support of her third album My Electric Family (Drag City / Mistletone).
