Don’t you just love a happy ending? We’re betting Slipknot and Stone Sour frontman Corey Taylor does too, with the 39-year-old singer recovering 98% of the music gear that was stolen from his West Des Moines house in Iowa earlier in the week.
According to the Des Moines Register, $36,000 worth of equipment was taken from Taylor’s home and storage units, including two bass guitars that belonged to late Slipknot bassist Paul Gray. The thief was suspected to be a friend of the Taylor family, after someone in the vocalist’s circle overheard the suspect trying to buy back the gear at a local music shop and another friend identified some of Taylor’s possessions at the same store.
But almost all of the instruments have found their way back home, according to Taylor, who tweeted “PROUD to say we have 98% of the equipment back! Wouldn’t have happened w/o the WDMPD, my wife and the goodness of people! Thank you! #trust”. There’s no news on how the loot was recovered or whether the Paul Gray guitars were part of the booty, but maybe this means Slipknot will get together and record that oft-promised new album we’re all waiting for.
