For another year, Triple J has announced they will be making the most of Ausmusic Month this November by once again awarding one native act with the prestigious J Award Album Of The Year. As the name would suggest, the award will be given to the album deemed the best…of the year.
Six albums in total have been announced so far, with three debuts making the cut. You know when there’s an award to be given to an Australian artist, Flume is never far away, with his self-titled debut full-length being shortlisted. Oasis-championed Jagwar Ma get some love for their debut LP offering Howlin, and RUFUS get a nod for their ARIA number 1 debut Atlas.
Representing the more established groups, Cloud Control fit in perfectly with the calibre of artist in the list with their sophomore effort Dream Cave. The latest LP from The Drones, I See Seaweed, marks their third nomination. And album number two for Big Scary, Not Art, rounds off the nominations so far.
Triple J will be celebrating Ausmusic Month all throughout November with all-Aussie Live At The Wireless and Like A Version segments. More Album Of The Year nominations will be announced over the coming weeks and awarding the winners at the J Awards ceremony in Sydney on Friday, 22nd November.
