Coachella 2014 Lineup Reveals Strong Aussie Contingent

Canadian indie darlings Arcade Fire, histrionic space rockers Muse and reunited hip hop crew Outkast will headline the 2014 Coachella Festival, joining a strong Aussie contingent of Flume, Jagwar Ma, Empire Of The Sun, The Preatures, Flight Facilities and Anna Lunoe. NZ’s Lorde and The Naked And Famous join their Antipodean kin on the lineup.

The announcement follows days of teases, which revealed the likes of metal legends Motörhead, Odd Future cohorts The Internet, Bonobo, Factory Floor and Future Islands.

Recently reformed acts seem to be Coachella’s thing. Last year we saw The Postal Service reunite, this year we have Outkast, as well as newly re-emerged acts The Replacements and Neutral Milk Hotel.

Also making a showing are Queens of the Stone Age, Beck, Foster the People, Pharrell, Skrillex, Disclosure, Chvrches, HAIM, Mogwai, Solange, Ellie Goulding, Chance The Rapper, Lana Del Rey, MGMT, Pet Shop Boys, AFI and Calvin Harris.

An Outkast reunion has been rumoured for some time, with reports suggesting rappers Andre 3000 and Big Boi would get back together for 2014 installment of Coachella in celebration of the 20th anniversary of their tongue-twistingly named debut record Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik.

Arcade Fire will soon headline Australia’s very own Big Day Out, kicking off on 19th January on the Gold Coast before making its way around the country. Muse have only just finished their most recent Australian tour and have been talking up their stripped-back latest album.

Coachella will once again take place at the Empire Polo Grounds in Indio, California, on 11th-13th April and the following weekend of 18th-20th April. It was last year revealed that Coachella had locked in the Indio venue for the next 17 years in a deal which allowed the festival and its sister event, Stagecoach, to take up two extra weekends of the year in the region.
