Downtempo and post-dubstep idol James Blake has stopped by BBC Radio 1’s Residency program to play a two-hour mix of tracks, including a brand-new piano-backed number titled 40455 and remixes of Beyonce‘s Drunk In Love and Mystikal‘s Pay Me.
Both Beyonce and Mystikal’s tracks have been given the James Blake treatment, with affected vocals and crisp electronic percussion added to both songs for a darker, more soulful vibe. Check them out, plus the new track, below.
Blake recently remixed his own song Life Round Here with help from best-bud and soon-to-be room-mate Chancelor Bennett aka Chance The Rapper. His last full-length release was 2013’s stunning Overgrown, which Music Feeds‘ Alice Juster called “a truly remarkable second album”.
