Fresh from closing the main stage at St Jerome’s Laneway Festival dates across the country
and off the back of the release of their second LP The Brink, Sydney indie quartet The Jezabels have announce their first headlining dates for a 2014 Australian tour.
In 2013, The Jezabels settled into life within a London studio with UK Producer Dan Grech-Marguerat (Radiohead, Scissor Sisters) to write and record The Brink, which follows the release of their AMP Award winning debut Prisoner.
They closed out the year opening for Depeche Mode and then the Pixies through Ireland and the UK, before kicking off 2014 by dropping their new record and playing headlining sets at this year’s Laneway festival.
Guitarist Sam Lockwood told Music Feeds earlier this year there was no difficult second album syndrome at play for The Jezabels. “We’ve always put the pressure on ourselves to do something really cool. The difficult second album – it comes from bands that have basically have no material,” he said.
The Jezabels’ upcoming national tour includes two dates at the iconic Sydney Opera House. For the remaining dates, Sydney collective Gang Of Youths will be playing the support slot. The Sydney band have been causing a stir lately thanks to their power pop debut single Evangelists and recent support slots for the likes of Vampire Weekend and Frightened Rabbit.
