Donald Glover & Australia’s Yvonne Strahovski Among 2018 Emmy Award Nominees

The 2018 Emmy Award nominees have been announced, and they include the likes of actor/writer/musician Donald Glover (AKA Childish Gambino) and Australia’s very own Yvonne Strahovski.

Glover’s FX series Atlanta has picked up 16 nominations, with Glover himself picking up four noms: Best Actor, Best Director and Best Writer for his work on Atlanta; and Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series for his appearance on Saturday Night Live.

Atlanta‘s Zazie Beetz (Vanessa “Van” Keefer) and Brian Tyree Henry (Alfred “Paper Boi” Miles) also picked up their first-ever Emmy nominations.

Yvonne Strahovski, who plays Mrs Waterford in The Handmaid’s Tale, is nominated for Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Series, alongside her fellow Handmaid’s actresses Ann Dowd (Aunt Lydia) and Alexis Bledel (Ofglen/Emily). The show’s star, Elisabeth Moss (June Osborne / Offred), is nominated for Best Lead Actress in a Drama Series.

The seventh season of Game Of Thrones leads all shows with a total of 22 nominations, followed closely by Westworld (21), Saturday Night Live (21), The Handmaid’s Tale (20) and The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story (18).

Netflix leads all networks with a massive 112 nominations, marking the first time in 18 years that HBO hasn’t landed the highest number of nominations.

The 2018 Emmy Awards are scheduled to take place in Los Angeles on Sunday, 17th September. Saturday Night Live cast members Michael Che and Colin Jost will host this year’s event.
