Huge news, an American Psycho TV series adaptation is on its way. There’s confirmation Lionsgate is developing the new series.
Lionsgate’s TV chairman Kevin Beggs very casually dropped the news during an interview with Deadline.
“And it’s only creative people because creative people are always leaning in to figure out how to say yes,” he said, referring to Lionsgate’s new 360 group. It’s the company’s creative team who make all the big decisions on TV and movie adaptations.
“There will be business obstacles, I’m sure, later, but in that room it’s just green fields and blue skies and what if.”
Here’s the juicy bit though.
“We’ve just wrapped up Dear White People which was a really good experience, Blindspotting is coming up, American Psycho is in development,” he said.
“We’re always exploring what we can do in television with something like the Saw franchise, so that’s a conversation.”
The little mention of Saw there follows rumours a TV adaptation of the series is in the works.
Begg didn’t give us much else other than that, leaving plenty of room for speculation.
American Psycho was initially released as a novel by Bret Easton Ellis in 1991. It was later adapted into the 2000 film we all love, starring Christian Bale.
A sequel, American Psycho 2 aired in 2002, it starred William Shatner and Mila Kunis.
