Perhaps, throughout 2020, you’ve been desperately wondering what South Park‘s Trey Parker and Matt Stone have to say about this tremendous clusterfuck of a year. If that happens to be the case, you’re in luck.
In what feels like it was always going to be an inevitability, the creators of South Park have announced an hour-long special episode in which the show tackles coronavirus and the ongoing pandemic.
Arriving at the end of the month (September 30th to be exact), ‘The Pandemic Special’ will kick off the 24th season of the long-running animated comedy, which has recently been renewed by Comedy Central until 2022.
A trailer has been released for the episode that shows Randy Mash announcing his own “pandemic special”, while Cartman attempts to stay home from school for as long as possible.
“Randy comes to terms with his role in the COVID-19 outbreak as the on-going pandemic presents continued challenges to the citizens of South Park,” reads an episode synopsis.
“The kids happily head back to school but nothing resembles the normal that they once knew; not their teachers, not their homeroom, not even Eric Cartman.”
It’s not entirely clear where you’ll be able to watch the episode in Australia. It was recently confirmed that South Park will be part of the programming for the forthcoming free-to-air channel 10 Shake, which launches later this month.
