Talk about flogging a dead horse.
Just when you thought the franchise was dead and buried…another Scary Movie is on its way, with the fifth instalment of the original spoof movie series due in April 2013.
And, as NME have discovered, the trailer for the film has just been released – and it stars none other than Lindsay Lohan and Charlie Sheen…in bed.
The skit looks very much like a scene out of Paranormal Activity and references both stars’ headline-making troubles over the past few years. In particular, Lohan screams when footage of her losing her trial in court is splashed on the couple’s TV screen.
Ashley Tisdale has signed on to play the lead role in the flick, which is the first Scary Movie since 2006. The star of the first four films, Anna Ferris, is unlikely to return for a fifth outing.
Scary Movie 5 is being directed by Malcolm Lee, with David Zucker – director of the third and fourth films in the series – co-writing the script. Along with a plot that features hints of Inception and Black Swan, NME has heard movies such as Rise of the Planet of the Apes and 127 Hours are also going to be spoofed in the film.
Will the series receive a shot of life or a mercy killing? Take a look at the trailer to see what’s in store:
