YouTube Recovers From Major Global Outage, But The Internet Never Forgets

For the first time in recent memory, video streaming giant YouTube has suffered a major global outage, which also included subsidiaries like YouTube TV and YouTube Music.

The service was down in many parts of the world for about an hour-and-a-half on Wednesday, with videos not working or crashing abruptly. Some people were unable to log in to their YouTube accounts, while others were met with blank home pages.

YouTube acknowledged the outage in a statement on its official Twitter account:

“Thanks for your reports about YouTube, YouTube TV and YouTube Music access issues. We’re working on resolving this and will let you know once fixed. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and will keep you updated.”

About an hour after that was posted, the issue was resolved. YouTube confirmed this via Twitter, while some users still tweeted about intermittent errors.

However, the best thing about the apocalyptic, fear-stricken 90 minutes were the inevitable memes and jokes across Twitter, because the internet Never. Forgets.
