The New Pollution: # 008 – Generationals

Generationals are a couple of gator-rasslin’ [citation needed] chaps from New Orleans (Louisiana) who make exceptional montage music. Just listen to the opening guitars of Ten-Twenty-Ten (embedded below) and you can’t help but feel it would be very well suited to an ad for health insurance or a movie where the main character has just started taking steps to turn his life around.

The boys (Ted Joyner and Grant Widmer) were members of similarly styled Baton Rouge indie rock band The Eames Era, which dissolved when the other three members decided to “discontinue their music careers”. That’s what it might say on “Wikipedia” (if that is it’s real name) but I’m pretty sure that Ted and Grant bailed on The Eames Era following the inclusion of one of their songs (Could Be Anything) in an episode of Grey’s Anatomy…

Broad television shows aside, Generationals make fun little indie rock songs that are perfect for dancing to in the kitchen with one or two people (max). Their first album, Con Law, came out in July 2009 with a follow-up EP in November, 2010 entitled Trust. Their latest offering, Actor-Caster, is another friendly homage to the rock n roll of the 60s and 70s. It came out in March, 2011 and it will be enjoyed by fans of Phoenix, Dr Dog, Buddy Holly and Clap Your Hands Say Yeah!

Break… Cajun style.
